Graston Technique
What is Graston Technique?
Graston Technique is an instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization therapy. It uses specifically engineered stainless steel tools to massage and break-up scar tissue and fascial adhesions around injured and dysfunctional areas of the body.
Adhesions in the muscles and fascia are results of repetitive stresses due to poor posture, work and sports activities, and traumatic injuries.
These traumas produce inflammation, small tears, scar tissue (fibrosis), hypoxia (lack of oxygen), weakness, tension and adhesions in the myofacial tissues.
Graston is especially effective at “breaking-up” scar tissue from areas of chronic or traumatic injury. It helps to improve circulation and inflammation, allowing for increased blood flow and healing, thus restoring optimal range of motion and reducing pain and dysfunction.
Graston is used for a number of conditions, but this therapy is especially popular for treating tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome and working around healed surgical scars for improving range of motion, pain and tightness.

What Conditions Can Graston Help Treat?
Not Everyone Can Practice Graston Technique
Not every chiropractor can apply this technique, since he or she must be certified. In addition, the chiropractor must perform an evaluation before applying the therapy as a certified provider.
