How to Prepare for a Deep Tissue Massage
Prepare health information relevant to the therapist. A deep tissue massage can be a bit uncomfortable. If you have any pain in your body or injuries, this is the information that the therapist needs to know from you. Preparing the information ahead of time will ensure that you do not forget anything when you are on your appointment. You can also choose to include information regarding any allergies you have or preferences about aromatherapy scents.
Drink water. Deep massages are designed to break the knots and adjust the muscles. This massage also releases toxins from the muscles, which can make you feel tired or nauseated after a massage. Staying well hydrated by drinking water before and after the massage will help relieve these symptoms.
Take a warm bath before the massage to relax your muscles and help you reach a relaxed state. A clean and fresh body will also make the experience more pleasant for your massage therapist.
Wear loose and comfortable clothes to the appointment. This will help you continue to feel relaxed and make the undressing part process easier to do. You may also feel pain and sensitive after the massage, so loose clothing will be more comfortable to wear.
